This morning I did laundry and repacked everything, Brad installed the new roof-top bag and searched for a new destination and the kids played card games. At 10:30 we headed out with one thing in mind and ended up doing something different.
It was a gorgeous day and we went back to Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane. It was enhanced for Expo 77 and still calls one of the islands in the river Canada Island, but we didn't see any beaver statues or Tim Horton's-es there. The theme-park area was perfect for their age and with hardly anyone else there the kids were thrilled to have the run of the place. When they begged to go again on the Strawberries or the Airplane ride, it was nice to be able to say sure. No lineups are a wonderful thing. Once it got too hot we went in for mini-golf and then out to P.F. Changs for lunch. I sure wish there was one in Edmonton. Really good, fresh, Asian inspired food. Lettuce wraps, steamed pork dumplings, spring rolls and other appetizers for lunch. Mm-mm-mm-mm. Finished off the visit with a train ride around the park. I might have learned more about it on our 35 minute ride had the sound system not been so horrible.
The kids all slept for the next 4 hours and we're here in a lovely spot on a weirdly long lake. It's called Tri-cities because three cities merge here. The lake is Wahulla - or something like that. Got here too late to enjoy it tonight, but tomorrow morning will be nice.
Ryan still has cold symptoms but also has had diarrhea for 2 days. His little bum is sore, but otherwise he seems quite normal so we'll press on. Probably just swallowing too much snot. Sorry for the gross details, but it has had an impact on our choices.
He Said: If PF Chang's was a woman, I would marry it. The highlight of the day: When Shannon brought tears to my eyes declaring "This time is our time". The lowlight? When it turned out she was just giving me crap for always converting to our timezone. As Shannon said there was a little accident, yadda yadda yadda, and I left Spokane with a bigger sack than when I arrived. No cue what we're going to do next. This place seems nice. I might try to get a second night here.
