Shannon made another wonderful breakfast, pancakes, then we packed and went for one more round of minigolf. Both the girls are getting much better at it. After that it was time to go. It's amazing what will excite the kids. Forget disneyland - I just have to tell them if they go to the washroom with mom quickly and listen to her, then can walk up the sidewalk alone and meet me at the office for another free bag of popcorn. We did that, then it was on the road. Somewhere shy of Kamloops, we almost hit a deer. It ran right out in front of us, at what fel tlike no more than 10 feet. Thankfully we had two lanes, there was no one behind us, and the van stopped beautifully. No screeching, no swerving. The deer bolted right towards us when I first started braking, then off the side once we'd stopped. Definitely a first for me. We stopped in Kamloops for lunch, then it was off to Kelowna. The entire drive was roughly 3.5 hours. I'm trying to keep the driving around there. Supper with Phil and Shelley, a walk with the dogs, a rousing round of Rock Band 2 after the kids were in bed, and another day was done. Tomorrow there are a bunch of Canada Day activities going on, and at some point we have to decide what we're going to do for the rest of the trip.

I wish we had captured the Rock Band session on video!! Phil's rendition of Uncontrolable Urge would go viral on You-Tube for sure.
Gillian said to Phil as they walked down the hill in the backyard "Phil, your yard is beautiful". It really is! Karen - I'll give you Shelley's phone number and you can come by for a look at their garden. It's a peaceful and intersting place to hang out.
