He Said: S & G went golfing with S. I wasn't there, so I can't comment on it, but I imagine it went something like "Remember when Brad said ... yesterday?" "Brad would have liked this ..." "That ... reminds me of Brad" and so on. It's a blessing and a curse. I took the other two and we hit Gyro Park early which worked out great. It wasn't crowded, we were able to get a shaded spot, and we had a great time. The kids loved the land zip line and Mara got the hang of paddling solo. We were there around 7:30 and done around 10:30 when it started getting busy. Might do that again tomorrow. I think I could be a water person after all. I am a Pisces after all. Maybe there's something to those horoscopes after all. I wonder how many times I can type 'after all'. It is my favorite phrase after all.
After that it was lunch at P&S', where our hosts made artisanal buns with thinly sliced fowl and a coagulated milk product whose name I can't recall. Once again, top notch.
Then it was off to see the indigenous kangaroos, wallabies and sugar gliders that have roamed the Kelowna outback for 26 years. It confirmed two things: Baby Anythings are cute and other peoples' kids are monsters. There was a baby...something named Mara there, which made for a good photo op. Overall it was a fun experience. Very interactive. You could pet and/or feed anything, hold baby kangaroos, have sugar gliders crawl all over you, get a parrot on your shoulder, and so on. There were also Emus, turkeys, chickens, pot bellied pigs and Rodents of Unusual Size (capybaras). Kangaroo Creek Farm, $5 recommended donation.
We followed that up with some games at Chez P&S and more fowl, this time flame grilled using a locally sourced fuel that imbued it with just a hint of...je ne sais quoi. You won't find anyone crying fowl over these meals!
...and then we went geocaching. The End.
She Said: Golfing was good. 9 holes at Double Eagle ? or something like that. Tough course to walk in the heat, but we had fun. We didn't keep score which really helped keep it fun. A couple of great shots were made by each of us! Makes it all worth it. The fella they put on with us reminded us a little of Bordie. All done by 10:00.
The kangaroos et al. were interesting. I don't know enough about kangaroos to know if they were a small breed of kangaroo or they just didn't have any adults out in public. The kids enjoyed the slip & slide and hot tub in Phil's backyard and Shelley and I made perfect Coconut Basil Gimlets (stolen from Hart's Table and Bar in Edmonton) We played Guesstures and Taboo. I'm so glad the kids are old enough to play these games. No more Candyland!!!!!!! Dinner was great.
